Campbell Scientific data loggers
Certified Campbell Scientific partnerA Campbell Scientific data logger reads the sensors, calculates averages, raises alarms when needed and passes the data on – year after year, often on solar and battery power. Here we compare today’s models and explain how we help with older loggers.
Today’s data loggers
All are programmed in CRBasic. We help you choose based on the number of sensors, measurement requirements, power and communication.
All-round
CR1000Xe
The successor to the CR1000X and a good fit for most weather and water stations.
- 16 single-ended or 8 differential analog inputs.
- 10–36 V supply.
- CR1000X programs run the same way.
Many sensor types
CR6
Twelve universal channels for measurement systems with many different sensor types.
- Measures vibrating-wire sensors.
- Optional built-in Wi-Fi or radio.
Compact
CR350
A compact logger for smaller remote stations. It replaces the CR300, CR800 and CR850.
- 4 single-ended or 2 differential analog inputs.
- Optional built-in cellular modem, Wi-Fi or radio.
Compact with Ethernet
CR310
A small logger with built-in Ethernet and removable terminal blocks.
- 6 single-ended or 3 differential analog inputs.
For high-speed data acquisition and testing, for example in vehicles, there are the Granite 9 and Granite 10. Ask us if you need something like that.

Older loggers
Many stations have loggers that have been running for many years. We look after them: we troubleshoot, replace parts and change the programs, in both EDLOG and CRBasic.
When it is time to replace the logger, we rewrite the program for a new one and check that the values stay the same, so that the data series continues. The sensors can often stay in place.
- CR1000XReplaced by the CR1000Xe. The programs run the same way.
- CR1000Replaced by the CR1000Xe.
- CR800 and CR850Replaced by the CR350, or the CR310 when more inputs are needed.
- CR300Replaced by the CR350.
- CR3000Often replaced by a CR6 or CR1000Xe with an extra analog module.
- CR10X, CR23X and CR510EDLOG loggers. The program is rewritten in CRBasic.
How we help
Choosing a logger
We go through sensors, measurement intervals, power and communication and suggest a logger that does the job.
CRBasic programming
Programs with calculations, averages, alarms and control, tested before the station goes into service.
Replacing an older logger
We move the program to a new logger and compare the values, so that the data series continues.
Telemetry and data collection
Data is sent over mobile networks or radio to our data collection systems, including Airviro, and on to your system.
Power
Solar panel and battery sized for the site, including the dark winter months in the mountains.
Service and spare parts
Remote troubleshooting, spare parts and service agreements, with a short path to the person who built the station.
Frequently asked questions about the data loggers
Which logger should we choose?
It depends on how many and which sensors you have, how often you measure and how the station is powered and sends data. The CR1000Xe suits most stations, the CR6 is for many different sensor types and the CR350 for smaller stations. We help you choose.
Can you move our old program to a new logger?
Yes. We rewrite programs from EDLOG to CRBasic and move programs between loggers, and we check that the values stay the same.
Will our sensors work with a new logger?
Usually. Analog sensors and sensors with SDI-12 or Modbus can normally be connected to today’s loggers. We go through the sensors before the switch.
How is the logger powered in the field?
The loggers use little power and work well with a solar panel and a battery. We calculate the power budget for the site, including the dark winter months.
Can we buy a logger without installation?
Yes. We sell loggers, accessories and spare parts, and can deliver the logger ready programmed.
How does the data reach us?
By telemetry to our data collection systems, including Airviro, and on to your system as files or through an interface. The logger can also be connected directly to your control system via Modbus.
