Meteorology for air quality

How air pollution spreads is governed by the weather. We build weather stations and met masts measuring wind, temperature stratification, radiation and humidity at air quality stations and industrial sites – and deliver the data directly to Airviro or your own system.

Detail from our example map. All values are made up.

What we measure

The basis for understanding and calculating air quality and the dispersion of emissions.

  • Wind direction and speed

Decide where emissions are carried and how quickly they are diluted.

  • Temperature at several heights

The temperature difference between levels on a mast shows whether the air is stable, for example during an inversion.

  • Turbulence

Fast ultrasonic sensors measuring how the air mixes.

  • Radiation

Solar radiation and net radiation, which affect the stratification of the air.

  • Precipitation and humidity

Rain washes out particles, and humidity affects how they behave.

  • Air pressure

Completes the input for dispersion calculations.

What your data can look like

The temperature difference between 50 and 2 metres shows when the air becomes stratified. During an inversion, emissions stay close to the ground.

How we deliver

The same person follows your station from the first sketch to service.

  1. Design

Review of the data your calculations need, and siting of the mast and sensors.

  2. Installation

Installation on a mast or roof, together with experienced mast climbers when needed.

  3. Data collection

Data automatically to Airviro or your own system.

  4. Service

Service, exchange for calibrated sensors and data quality checks.

Frequently asked questions

Can you deliver data to Airviro?

Yes. We deliver data from the stations directly to Airviro, and to other systems when needed.

Can you take over service of existing stations?

Yes. We service weather stations at air quality stations and industrial sites, and can take over programs and data collection.

Do you also measure particles and gases?

We build the meteorology needed for air quality and dispersion, and connect it with your other measurements.
