Services

From design to operation

We take responsibility for the whole chain – or for the part where you need help. With us, the same engineer plans the station, writes the program, installs the equipment and comes out when something needs fixing.

01

Design

A good station starts with the right questions: what should be measured, why, and what will the values be used for? We go through your needs, visit the site when necessary and propose sensors, siting, mast, power supply and communication.

You get a clear quote showing what is included – and what can be added later.

  • Sensors chosen for accuracy requirements, climate and budget.
  • Siting according to meteorological practice and the conditions on site.
  • Power budget for solar and battery where there is no mains power.
  • Telemetry over mobile networks, radio or a fixed connection.
02

Programming and system integration

The logger program decides what the station actually delivers. We write, test and maintain programs in CRBasic for today’s Campbell Scientific loggers, and look after older stations running EDLOG.

We connect sensors from different manufacturers and integrate the station with control systems and other systems.

  • Calculations, averages and statistics in the logger itself.
  • Alarms and control based on your thresholds.
  • Integration via Modbus, SDI-12 and RS-485.
  • Updates and troubleshooting of existing programs.
  • Training for your staff in loggers and CRBasic.

Installation

We install and commission stations on bare mountains, at the quayside, on rooftops and on masts – even where only a helicopter can get you there. Work high up on masts is done together with experienced mast climbers.

Every sensor is checked on site before we leave, so you know the data is right from day one.

04

Data collection

The stations send their data automatically via telemetry to our data collection systems, including Airviro. We make sure the data comes in, notice when a station goes quiet and pass the values on.

Data can be delivered as files or through an interface to your own system, or shown on a live data page on the web.

  • Collection around the clock with station monitoring.
  • Telemetry over mobile networks, radio or a fixed network, including VPN.
  • Delivery to your system, a cloud service or a live data page.
  • Backup of the collected data.
05

Service, calibration and service agreements

A data series is only as good as the station’s maintenance. With a service agreement you get regular visits, exchange for calibrated sensors and fast troubleshooting – often remotely, before anyone needs to travel.

We service stations we have built ourselves and are happy to take over service of existing stations.

  • Preventive service under an agreement.
  • Exchange for calibrated sensors so the data series isn’t broken.
  • Remote troubleshooting and spare parts.
  • Levelling surveys of water level stations.

Live data pages

We build web pages showing current values, graphs and camera images from your stations – for staff, customers and the public.

From sensor to screen

A measurement station is more than the sensors on the mast. Here are the parts of a typical station and the path the values take to you.

Telemetry

Point at a number or a step to read more.

Wind sensor

Wind speed and direction, with ultrasonic sensors from Gill Instruments or propeller sensors from R.M. Young.

Gill Instruments →R.M. Young →

Temperature and humidity

The sensor sits in a radiation shield so that the sun does not heat it and give readings that are too high.

Pyranometer

Measures solar radiation from the whole sky. We supply pyranometers from EKO Instruments.

Camera

A network camera from Axis Communications shows the conditions on site, such as snow, ice or visibility.

Axis Communications →

Solar panel and battery

The power supply is sized for the site, including dark winters far from the grid.

Snow depth sensor

Measures the distance down to the snow surface with ultrasound, without contact. We supply sensors from SOMMER Messtechnik.

SOMMER Messtechnik →

Precipitation gauge

Measures rain and snow. The wind shield around the gauge reduces the error when it is windy.

Data logger

The Campbell Scientific logger reads all the sensors, calculates averages and raises alarms at thresholds. We write the program.

Telemetry

The station sends its values wirelessly at regular intervals, usually over the mobile network.

Our data collection systems

Including Airviro. The values from every station arrive here, and we see at once if a station goes quiet.

Your system

The values are delivered as files or through an interface to your own system.

Live data page

A web page with current values, graphs and camera images for staff, customers or the public.

Alarms

An alarm goes out when a value passes a limit or when a station stops sending data.

When standard won’t do

Fully customised systems and solutions

Many projects don’t fit a catalogue. Then we build the system to your requirements – from sensors and mechanics to logger programs, data flow and presentation.

Tell us what you need
  • Stations for sites where standard solutions fall short – bare mountains, harbours and mines.
  • Sensors from several manufacturers in one system.
  • Solar and battery power for sites with no mains electricity.
