Gill Instruments

Ultrasonic anemometers, research sensors and compact weather stations

Gill Instruments in Lymington, England, was among the first to commercialise ultrasonic anemometers and specialises in wind and weather sensors with no moving parts. We supply the range and build the sensors into weather stations, masts and harbour systems.

Featured products

A selection from the range. We help you choose a model for the climate, requirements and outputs.

  • 2D ultrasonic

    WindSonic

An all-round sensor with no moving parts for wind speed and direction, with SDI-12, Modbus and NMEA among its outputs.

  • 2D ultrasonic

    WindUltra

Gill’s smallest and lightest wind sensor, with integral heating for operation down to −40 °C.

  • 2D ultrasonic

    WindObserver

A heavy-duty stainless steel sensor for winds up to 90 m/s, with Lloyd’s Register type approval and optional heating.

  • Hazardous areas

    WindObserver IS

An intrinsically safe wind sensor certified to IECEx, ATEX and UKEX.

  • 3D ultrasonic

    WindMaster

Wind in three dimensions at up to 32 measurements per second, for turbulence and flux research.

  • Research

    R3-50 and R3-100

Lightweight aluminium and carbon fibre research anemometers for turbulence and eddy covariance flux measurement, at 50 and 100 measurements per second.

  • Research

    HS-50 and HS-100

Stainless steel research anemometers with a built-in inclinometer, for accurate analysis of vertical wind flow.
