Cameras at the measurement site

A picture says a lot: the snow cover, rime on the sensors, the visibility across the fjord or the ships at the quay. We build network cameras into the measurement station, with images shown alongside the measured values.

Detail from our example map. All values are made up.

What the camera gives you

The camera becomes part of the station and is controlled by the same logger as the sensors.

  • Images at regular intervals

For example every ten minutes or once an hour, as needed.

  • Sensor checks

See whether there is snow or rime on the sensors before the values are used.

  • Snow and visibility

Assess snow cover, avalanche conditions and visibility without travelling there.

  • Images on the web

The latest image on a live data page, alongside graphs and values.

  • Low-power operation

The camera can be switched on only when a picture is taken, so it runs on solar and battery.

  • Archive

One image a day saved to follow changes over time.

What your data can look like

One image a day from the same camera makes it easy to follow the snow depth and the conditions on site over time.

Example with made-up values.

Frequently asked questions

Can the camera run on a solar panel?

Yes, if it is only switched on when the picture is taken. We size the solar panel and battery for how often pictures are needed.

Where do the images end up?

On our server, with you or on a live data page – or in all three places.

Can existing stations get a camera?

Usually yes. We go through power, communication and mounting and suggest a solution.
